KI is looking for a highly skilled research scientist to join our research team. The candidate should have strong clinical/medical/epidemiological foundations and extensive experience in health-related data-driven research projects. In this role, the candidate will work jointly with algorithmic researchers and will oversee the study coordination. The candidate will take part in planning the study, formatting clear research questions, and developing the clinical context around them, analyzing the results as well as writing the findings for scientific publications. Additional tasks include guiding students and presenting the team’s work externally. Since our research efforts focus on applied research aimed to achieve applicable advancements in healthcare, candidates should be experienced with identifying practical clinical needs. The work is expected to involve multiple simultaneous research studies. The candidate will be a part of a highly collaborative research team.
Qualifications/Experience
- PhD in medical sciences, epidemiology or relevant life sciences field (Postdoc– advantage)
- 3+ years of experience in data-driven research outside the academic degree
- Deep understanding of medical/clinical processes as well as practical aspects of the healthcare system
- Experience with analyzing clinical data-driven results.
- Research at KI involves analyzing real-world electronic health records (including patients’ demographics, diagnoses, procedures, lab test results, etc.) – candidates should have experience in research with similar data types.

The candidate of interest has strong machine learning foundations and hands-on experience in algorithm development and advanced data analysis. The researcher is able to execute independent end-to-end data-driven research projects in the healthcare domain, including identifying the clinical need, obtaining and curating the data, developing the analysis algorithms, analyzing the results and writing scientific manuscripts. In this role, the candidate will be a part of a highly collaborative research team, guide students and present the team’s work externally.
Qualifications/Experience
- Advanced academic degree in exact sciences, engineering or relevant life sciences field (PhD/Postdoc– advantage)
- 3+ years of work experience following academic degree
- Theoretical understanding and practical experience with machine learning / statistical inference methods
- Experience with big data algorithm development (medical data – advantage)
- Research at KI involves analyzing real-world electronic health records (including patients’ demographics, diagnoses, procedures, lab test results, etc.) – candidates should have experience with analyzing similar data types.
