By uniting the disciplines of data, science, and biology, I aim to create a multidimensional understanding of human health and discover insights to improve treatment and care.
Maytal is a research scientist applying biological, pharmaceutical, and clinical perspectives to design and analyze projects in several of KI’s research domains.
Previously, Maytal was a research scientist at several academic institutions and digital health start-ups. Before joining KI, Maytal was a co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of DataClue, where she built a clinical data exchange platform for academic investigators and pharmaceutical companies. The platform leveraged underutilized clinical trials data to deliver new biological insights. Prior to DataClue, she was the director of clinical research informatics at Belong, where she led academic projects and derived insights from real-world data, including patient-generated data in oncology.
Maytal completed her postdoctoral research fellowship at Harvard Medical School in Boston and later worked at Harvard as a staff scientist. She holds a PhD in bio-pharmaceutical sciences (cum laude) from Leiden University in the Netherlands. Maytal obtained her BSc Pharm from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Throughout her academic career, Maytal has designed vaccine delivery systems and investigated cellular immune responses to mucosal vaccination modalities against infectious diseases such as HIV, tuberculosis, and influenza.
A fitness enthusiast who has a love of music, Maytal spends her time at the gym in invigorating dance or step-aerobics classes, running in the park or taking a long stroll on the beach. She volunteers in patient advocacy and supports activities to improve representation of women in STEM disciplines.
